Welcome to the Severn Valley Microlight Club (SVMC)
We are a club of active and enthusiastic Microlight flyers and welcome anyone with an interest in aviation.
To join you do not need to own a plane or have a pilot’s licence but you will be mixing with many members who do.
If you would like to know more about microlights, about some of the incredible things our members have done or get more details about the club – then please look through our latest news and events pages.
Club Aims
The principal aim of the club is to promote microlighting as a sport in our area by providing a focal point for the exchange of information between both new and current Club members, together with an archive of Club history, activity and photos.
Details
Severn Valley Microlight Club is centred around the City of Gloucester. The membership of the Club continues to grow and now stands at around 140 members based within a 75 mile radius of the City. Members fly from both farm/private strips and GA airfields.
From April to September the emphasis is on flying with regular mid-week fly-ins to strips in the local area.
Winter indoor meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month. This gives members the chance to socialise and hear speakers on a wide variety of topics.
The December meeting is the Club Christmas Party.
Our Facebook group is used for sharing information, with up to date photos and reports of our fly-ins and events.
The Club publishes a newsletter, Airscrew, and welcomes all pilots and social members into full membership for just £20 per year.
Club Membership
Annual membership is just £20.00 per year. £10 after July.

Club History
The Severn Valley Microlight Club was founded in 1982 in the Gloucester area.
In 2012 it celebrated its Thirtieth Anniversary with a gathering at the Flying Shack at Gloucestershire Airport. A number of former members attended including Gordon Gould who was Club member number three in 1982 and has maintained his membership ever since!
He had a complete collection of Club newsletters from the time of the Club’s inception. Using these as a basis he produced a brief account of the Club’s early days. This was then augmented and expanded by trawling through 30 years worth of newsletters to produce the final document which appeared alongside the Club newsletter in December 2012.
